Caps aside, I really don’t know where to go from here (on this remix, I mean). Obviously, as a WIP, it’s really rough and I plan on mastering it better, adding more variation, and sorting out the vocals. But I really don’t know where it’s going either. I did a change of tone, but hit a dead-end on what to do with it. Maybe I’ll remove it and just end it there. I dunno.

in the first place.
all she wanted
was a chance to go out
and for once
do something other than
rub her knees and elbows raw
from the work.
he wasn’t her type
and she could tell
her stepmother knew.
so she ran.
but the godmother had
one more caveat
she didn’t know about.
when an old lady shows up
with a magic wand
and tells you
she’ll make your dreams come true
and the only catch
is a simple curfew
you don’t tend to ask
about the fine print.
so now she’s got
these sensitive feet
no matter what shoes she wears
and there’s no mice
and no birds
to help save her.
maybe someday
there’ll be a prince
or a princess
or just someone out there
who will like her
for more than just a pretty gown
help her bandage her feet
and won’t mind
that she can’t dance too well.
what she should have thought

with a smile and a wink
was that
no matter how perfect the fit
glass slippers
just aren’t
good footwear.
